Philanthropy and Scholarship

Philanthropy

Alpha Chi Omega has supported victims of domestic violence since 1992. The UCSB Delta Psi Chapter contributes by hosting an annual laser tag philanthropy event, which raised about $2,000 this last year. In addition, our chapter has supported the victims of domestic violence in alternate ways, including writing mother's day cards to the women living at the local shelter. Our members are dedicated to volunteering at various local organizations during their free time, and have even brought some of these projects to others in the house, as this past Valentine's Day we set up an event within the house to write cards to the soldiers abroad in Iraq. Philanthropy is a significant aspect of every Alpha Chi's daily life here at UCSB.

We love to participate in other house's philanthropy events!

Scholarship

Academic interest is one of the five criteria of Alpha Chi Omega nationally and is a top priority in our chapter. House study hours and tutoring are available to all members, as well as other programs that help us to be successful academically. Each week we host open library hours as an opportunity to encourage sisters to study together.

Students who take advantage of the academic support available and properly balance their time between academic and extra-curricular pursuits will find that Greek membership can enhance their academic performance. Several national studies have consistently found that retention rates are significantly higher for fraternity and sorority members than for unaffiliated students.
